02/14/2004: "African-American Cultural Center in Pittsburgh"
The Urban Redevelopment Authority (which may not exist for much longer depending on the outcome of financial restructuring) is moving ahead with the purchase of more buildings and lots on Liberty Avenue downtown in order to build an African-American Cultural Center. This is needed and welcomed, if only some of the building slated for demolition could be saved. See article.

At the same time, Liberty Avenue is known the world over for gay culture--perhaps some discussion should start on adding a Gay and Lesbian Center on Liberty Avenue or moving the Gay and Lesbian Community Center to the area. More should be done.
