Best Neighborhoods:
What are the best neighborhoods to live in? Send your comments and suggestions to newcolonist@newcolonist.com and we'll post them here.

Miracle Mile
High density, lots of public transit, shopping, and services, mix of old and new housing. Museums, parks, and diversity aplenty.

West Hollywood
Lively, crowded, liberal, lots of night life.

HancockPark/Larchmont Village
Serene and elegant, with an old-style shopping street at its core.

Echo Park/Silverlake
Old and new houses and apartments built onto steep, forested hills near Downtown. Plenty of restaurants, coffeehouses, galleries. Site of Sunset Junction festival. Funky, eclectic, sometimes ragged, often beautiful. Many public staircases serve as vertical sidewalks on the hills.

SoRo (South Robertson area)
Centrally located between Culver City & Beverly Hills, this culturally diverse neighborhood is revitalizing and attracting artists, musicians, actors and more. Lots of public transit, shopping, restaurants, with beautiful homes circa 1920-1945.

West Adams
A reviving community with many architectural gems.
